Floating Through a Rainforest Swamp

Last week I was lucky enough to explore a little of the Tambopata National Reserve just outside Puerto Maldonado, Peru. One of the highlights was getting to film while lazily floating through a rainforest swamp.

While the film itself is very short, it gives you an idea what it’s like to glide almost silently through the water in a dense jungle. I was surprised to spot a small black caiman lurking as I passed. You can tell from the video how easy it is for such an animal to hide camouflaged in the black waters of the swamp.

The sounds of the jungle fill your senses like nowhere else. The constant drone of millions of insects, brilliant calls of dozens of exotic birds, and the occasional exhortation of a howler monkey reinforce that this place is full of life.
